HISTORY OF FASHION IN PAKISTAN:
The Pakistan fashion design council that was established in 2006 is the only one of its kind existing in Pakistan. Over the years it has managed to organize many shows and they have only gotten better with time. Not only are new and fabulous trends introduced in these showcases but upcoming designers are also welcomed and are given a platform to step into the fashion industry of Pakistan.
PROGRESSION OF PAKISTAN FASHION SHOWS:
Pakistan fashion shows have progressed through the years, fashion Pakistan week of 2011 and 2012 caught worldwide media attention and were thought to be eye catching and edgy. The same tradition has been kept up by the Sunsilk fashion week f 2015. The colour filled spring collections made a statement and gave the people a break from the dark colour pallet of the winters.
The most renowned and well-praised designers of the sunsilk fashion week were House of Arsalan Iqbal, Hassan Riaz and Chinyere and on the other hand in the category of pret wear, Sana Safinaz, Syeda Amera, Huma and Amir Adnan, Sania Maskatiya, Republic owned by Omer Faroq and the king of fashion HSY.
INTERNATIONAL FASHION FESTIVAL AND PAKISTAN FASHION SHOWS:
Up till now Pakistan fashion shows that have been held are the international fashion festival where Rana Nauman Haq came out as the star by showcasing his elite forma collection. The second show held was the fashion Pakistan week where many designers came to the top but a special mention of Sadaf Malaterre comes into mind with her elegant cuts and silhouettes. Third came the fashion show that grabbed the most attention of spectators and the media, the Pakistan fashion design council (PFDC) sunsilk fashion week held on first till the third of May. Up till now the PFDC show has shown the audience the most variety in new designs, cuts and colours. It has been the top grossing show of the year; rumours say that the government might allocate one fifty seven billion rupees to the show next year! Oozing glamor and a majestic aura, Pakistan Sunsilk Fashion Week day one started off brilliantly with designers demonstrating their latest collections and parading breath-taking style techniques on the ramp. Fahad Hussayn, Misha Lakhani, Zonia Anwaar, Natasha Kamal and Nicki n Nina rising talent ornamented the runway on the opening day. Rumour says that next PFDC fashion Week will showcase spring/summer collections from twenty four top and approaching designers including retailers who will be featured in eight fashion-packed shows daily over the course of the three-day affair. These include Maheen Khan, Shamaeel Ansari, Nomi Ansari, Hassan Sheheryar Yasin, Deepak Perwani, Fahd Hussayn, Faraz Manan, Amna Aqeel, Jafferjees, Gul Ahmad, Adnan Perdesi, Zainab Chottani, Tapu Javeri, Kamiar Rokni, Maheen Hussain, Nida Azwer, Ali Xeeshan and many others.
To sum up, we can say without a doubt that Pakistan fashion shows have really started to improve and the time is not so far when we will see Pakistani fashion designers showcasing their capacities at International faashion events.
